Gracie's Hair Butter: December 2014 Newsletter

Winterizing Your Hair Regimen
6 Tips To Use
The winter months are the toughest on your hair.  Try these winter hair tips to keep your hair healthy, moisturized and manageable.

1. Keep eating healthy and taking your vitamins
We receive proper nutrients for our hair through our food but it is also wise to cover all the bases by taking a multivitamin.  A multivitamin has Iron, Vitamin D, Zinc and B-Complex which are essential for healthy growing hair...Good in equals Good out.!

2. Drink lots of water
Need I say more, lol!

3. Deep Conditioning Treatments

It is a must that you deep condition your hair.  I recommend conditioning your hair every 2 weeks or every week for extremely dry, brittle or damaged hair.  To get the most out of your deep conditioning treatment, shampoo your hair first.  Curls react best to conditioners once hair is cleansed.  Apply your conditioner, cover hair with a plastic cap and sit under a hair dryer for 20-35 minutes, Rinse hair with water.
*For those of you who use leave-in-conditioners, rinse hair with water only 80%, leaving 20% of the conditioner in your hair.

4.Try Prepoo
Prepoo is usually a oil treatment before you shampoo or condition your hair. You can use what ever oils you like. The method is the same as deep conditioning, except your only using oil.

5. Use Butters
Remember water is the only true form of moisture.  Try Gracie's Hair Butter to seal the moisture in.

6.Put A Satin Cap Under Your Hat
It is cold outside for sure but before you wear your hat, put your satin cap on first.  This will eliminate excess friction to your hair causing hair breakage.  Also, this will aid in retaining your hairs moisture and help protect your hair from the winter dry air.

November Sponsorships and Events

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have found out that i colored my hair two months ago.  I was so excited to make this change because everyone knows that i have a distinctive "early" gray patch in the front of my hair.  I like to call it Wisdom Lol! Anyway, I colored my hair this beautiful burgundy red.  What most of y'all don't know is that i had a crazy allergic reaction to the dye that was used on my hair.  To make matters worse, I was going out of town for a conference, the day after i got my hair done.

Learn About Gracie's Hair Butter

My name is Shervonne Coney and I am the CEO & Founder of Gracie's Hair Butter. Three years ago, I created a hair product that I call Gracie's Hair Butter.  I created this product due to the fact that my husband has locs and his hair started to thin in several places, which professionals call traction alopecia.   I wanted to help my husband and do it in a way that would not embarrass him.

My husband has been using Gracie's Hair Butter for three years now and the growth of hair that he enjoys in those once thinned area is almost unbelieveable.  Along with my husband , I have many clients who have experienced the same results while using my product.  My clients range in hair types and textures.

In addition, my product has been tried and tested to assist with blowouts, pressings, flat ironing, dry scalp, itchy scalp and giving clients hair a natural and healthy looking shine. Many of my clients love the quality ingredients that Gracie's Hair Butter has to offer and use it exclusively for there skin care needs.

Gracie's Hair Butter Review by Stacey Compton Maga

“First Impression is the Last Impression"

Shervonne Coney who is the owner of Sweet Inspirations Boutique was a participant of the Young Women in Business (YMIB) group, where I spoke to woman about entrepreneurship. The following Sunday, I invited the same group to attend church and when I walked in, Shervonne presented me with a gift bag, just to say thank you. As a business woman she made a statement. “You Go Girl!!

I was so surprised because the bag was filled with all types of amazing accessories, but even more there was a product called “Gracie’s Hair Butter”; fabulous for natural hair. When I say,” I love I”, I mean, “I love it”. Light weight and moisturizes without leaving it greasy. Very proud of her.

Show support…Go to Facebook/Sweet Inspirations Boutique and see her selection of clothes, accessories and much more.

Sweet Inspirations Boutique: Saturday Hair Wash Day DIY Routine

Hi Yall,
So its Saturday and it is my Wash Day.  I chose Saturday as my wash day simply because i like for my hair to be fresh and clean to start off the new week and for church on Sunday.  I love my store bought products such as: Shea Moisture Black Soap Balancing Conditioner, Anti-Breakage Masque and Deep Treatment Masque but I created a homemade deep moisturizing conditioner that is fantastic, leaves my hair soft, moisturized and can be used in more than one way.

I start my Hair Wash Day process off by washing/shampooing my hair with Dr. Bronner Peppermint Soap. This stuff is the truth!  It is a all natural, multi-use soap that can be used on your body, face, hair etc.  If you have ever tried Dr. Bronner Soap(which comes in several scents), you know that you can use it on any and everything.  Its just the bomb!  After I shampoo my hair 3 times, I apply my homemade deep moisturizing conditioner.
The ingredients to the conditioner is:
1 Cup of Shea Butter (preferable the organic or the white to pale in color shea butter)
1/8 Cup of Olive Oil
1/8 Cup of Castor Oil
1/8 Cup of Coconut Oil
1/8 Cup of Jojoba Oil
1/8 Cup of Honey
Add 1 Egg if you want to do a protein treatment.

I apply this mixture to my hair and put on my (2) shower caps.  The first shower cap is the regular clear, plastic shower cap.  The second shower cap is a gold, thermal heat shower cap that i found at the dollar store(it actually works).  I put the 2 caps on my head and sit under the hair dryer for 30-45 minutes.  If you are like me, you hate sitting under the hair dryer.  Lord willing, I will soon get one of those hair dryers that go on your head without all the extra heat flowing down my face.

After I come from under the hair dryer, I rinse my homemade deep moisturizing conditioner out of my hair with cool water.  Then I apply my own Gracie's Hair Butter to my scalp and the ends of my hair to seal in the moisture.  I have been washing my hair like this for several months now and it is The Best!  My hair is soft, manageable and i see very little breakage.  Unlike when I was on the creamy crack and my hair was flying off my head lol!  I hope this blog is a blessing to someone.  Please post your comment or questions below.

Thank Yall and Many Blessing To You!!!

Sweet Inspirations Boutique: Calling All Natural Hair Women

Hi All,
I just want to say how excited i am about the "New" movement of women to grow and wear there hair natural.  I have been natural for over 12 years now but i started out wearing dreadlocks.  I loved my locs, do you hear me!  I loved my locs and everything that came with it.  I enjoyed the styling and the super duper fast growth of hair that i experienced in such a short period of time.  About 4 years ago i cut my dreadlocks off and started to wear my transitioning short, curly, fro(a whole other blog).  Now I have to be honest, going from locs to straight out natural was scary for me.  In between cutting my locs and where i am now, i did dabble in a texturizer and weekly press and curls from Moms(Who can press your hair, like you got a perm...Yes Sir!) But since the past 4 years, i have been straight up natural and very little press and curl.  I love where i am with my hair now.  I understand that i have that "Good Hair".  I have a personal curl pattern formulated just for me.  I can bantu knot my hair, flat twist, single twist, roller set, rod set, blow out afro, or curly afro...whatever!

Not only that but it is such a new camaraderie with natural hair women.  There are tailor made events, groups and networks that cater all to women who have natural hair.  We can share and form relationships all based off of our love for our God given hair type.  Something that used to divide women, is now something that is bridging allot of women together.  I must say that I love it!  I myself have joined groups such as Boston Naturals and many, many, social network groups and pages that cater to woman with natural hair.  And i am not just talking about black woman, although most of the groups are predominately black women...that is a whole other blog!!!  Can I just say, I AM IN LOVE!  For every woman on the fence and feeling like "Natural" hair is not their thing, just give it a try.  Really, it's just hair!
I pray this is a blessing to someone and if you want, comment or email.  Thank You!
Blessings,
Shervonne

Sweet Inspirations Online Boutique: My Favorite Natural Hair Styling

My favorite natural hair styling method has to be the flat twist out.  I have found that with a well done flat twist out you can wear your hair in a curly free flowing style, a funky up do, a stretched curl roller set look and a flat twist can even aid you in a creative bun.  I get so much versatility with my flat twist outs.  It almost makes me say "Where have you been all my life"!  I have attached some photos to show you what styles I have achieved with my flat twist outs.  Thanks for reading.

Sweet Inspirations Online Boutique: My Natural Hair Winter Regimen Tips

Sweet Inspirations Online Boutique: My Natural Hair Winter Regimen
Hi All,
So as we all know that winter weather can be hard on your natural hair.  Especially when it is as cold and snowy as it has been this past January/February 2014.  I wanted to share with you some tips on how I keep my natural hair moisturized and healthy this winter.
Tips
1. Moisture is the biggest problem that people with natural hair face so everyday I mist my hair with a spray bottle that is filled with equal parts water and coconut oil.  Sometimes i add other oils to my spray bottle i.e. Castor Oil, Olive Oil, Tea Tree Oil etc

2. I have a oil bottle that i have filled with equal parts Water, Castor Oil and Tea Tree Oil.  I use this bottle especially to apply its contents to my scalp.  I have found that my scalp loves these oils and to avoid wasting the oils in a spary bottle, I put them in a oil bottle.  Once I have applied the oil bottle contents, I then massage my scalp for 2-3 minutes.  Being careful to massage my scalp until i feel a warming sensation.  I feel that this really helps everything to get into my scalps pores.

3. I apply my very own Gracie's Hair Butter to my hair.  Gracie's Hair Butter is great for retaining the moisture that i have just put on my head due to the fact that it is based with Shea Butter and Essential Oils.  I am careful to put Gracie's Hair Butter on my hair and especially on my ends to seal them, since they are the most vulnerable part of your hair.

4. Once i have applied all of these moisturizing ingredients to my hair, I then take a wide tooth comb and comb my hair in a semi protective style such as a pushed back ponytail or bun.  I have found that my hair does not react well to protective styles such as braids, long lasting twist etc.  My hair needs daily moisture, combing and detangling.

5. After i have put my hair in a pushed back ponytail or bun, I then put on my satin scarf or cap.  When i have to venture outside in the winter, I am careful to leave my satin scarf or cap on while i wear whatever hat i want to for the day.
With natural hair, you always have to be mindful of what will help keep your hair moisturized and protected from breakage or damage.

This is my winter natural hair regimen and i hope that someone will be blessed by it.  To Purchase my Gracie's Hair Butter, go to www.ebay.com/usr/sweetinspirations011
